How does the league work? Each team will sign up as a group of 4: 2 Female, 2 Male. Each week you will play a match consisting of 4 games. 1 Women's Doubles, 1 Men's Doubles and 2 Mixed Doubles. If the match is tied 2-2 after 4 games then a DreamBreaker rotating singles match will be played. What does DUPR 14 and DUPR 16 mean? This represents the combined DUPR ratings of each team member. DUPR 14 represents an average 3.5 rating, and DUPR 16 represents an average 4.0 rating. For example, a team consisting of players rated: 3.4, 3.7, 3.2, and 3.5 would have a combined DUPR of 13.8 and would compete in the DUPR 14 division. What if I don't have a DUPR rating or I feel it is inaccurate? If you do not have a DUPR rating, we would ask you to self-rate to the best of your ability. If you feel your DUPR rating is inaccurate for some reason and you feel that it would place you in the wrong division please contact us.What is the scoring format? The doubles format games will be sideout scoring games to 15, win by 2. The "DreamBreaker" (if required) will be one singles format game with rally scoring to 21, win by 2. (Rotating players every 4 points played, rally scoring freezes at 20, e.g. must win on your serve). Will these matches be reported to DUPR?Yes, we will submit scores for all the doubles format matches to DUPR each week. The DreamBreaker match (if required) will NOT be reported to DUPR.How are the team league standings determined?Standings points are earned in every match. 3 Points: Regulation win (i.e.: 3-1 or 4-0 win; no DreamBreaker needed). 2 Points: DreamBreaker win (i.e.: 3-2 win). 1 Point: DreamBreaker loss (i.e.: 2-3 loss). 0 Points: Regulation loss (i.e.: 1-3 or 0-4 loss; no DreamBreaker needed). How are absences/substitutions handled? It is expected when you register for this league, you are committing to play on the dates and times listed. MLP style play fosters team spirit and camaraderie therefore it is expected that the 4 team members who register are present all weeks. We understand that life (and possibly injuries) happen and there may be one or two instances when a sub is needed. If a sub should be needed for one week, the team is responsible for finding a substitute. The player should be similarly skilled to the player they are subbing for. Overuse of subs may result in team point penalties.I want to play but I don't have a team, can I still sign up?No, for this league we will not be building the teams, you are required to have a committed team before signing up.How do signups work?Registration will open next Sunday, 8/24 at 12pm. Only 1 person (team captain) needs to register. The team captain is responsible for having a team of 4 confirmed before registering and will need to know the first and last name and email address of each team member, plus a fun team name. At that time, we will collect a $50 deposit. The remainder of the registration fee will be collected when divisions are confirmed. Will this be fun?Yes, we think so 😃. This league is geared towards players who don't shy away from challenging matches. However, we think we can do that and still have fun. We will enforce the golden rule: Don't be a jerk. While competitive, we want to foster the social aspect of pickleball that we all love. What if it rains? If the courts are wet or its raining we will notify all league players prior to start time. We will make every attempt to play the full 6 week season. We have additional rainout dates baked into the schedule.Where does the money go?The cost of the league goes towards paying for the court reservations and paid league permit fee with Seattle Parks and Rec. The league will also provide the balls (Franklin X-40), and manage matchmaking, as well as score keeping and reporting. If you would like to participate but cost is an issue, please contact the league organizers.
